Each and every morning we offer a history cruise to guests at Ashford Castle and day visitors are also welcome. Come and join local historian and boat captain Patrick Luskin as he takes you on a facinating journey through time. Patrick has a vast knowledge of this area and indeed in 2003 published his first local history book entitled "A Voyage Of Discovery". Personally sighned copies can be obtained on board or in the gift shop at Ashford Castle.
During the cruise one will experience some breath-taking scenery on Lough Corrib, with it's 365 islands and surrounding Connemara mountains. You will also have a great oppurtunity to photograph Ashford Castle from the water.
The cruise also includes a brief visit to "the old steamers quay" from where heavy steamers once ferried passengers and goods to Galway. The duration of this cruise is 1hr 15minutes and boarding is at Ashford Castle pier at 10.30am daily.
We advise customers to book their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment during peek season.
Note: This cruise operates out of Ashford Castle, Cong, Co. Mayo every day of the year, except Christmas day, the day after and New year's day.
