Island Cruise

Book your boat trip on Lough Corrib to monastic site on Inchagoill IslandThis cruise departs Ashford Castle Pier,Cong daily at 2:45pm, boarding at 2:30pm.Passengers who are not staying at Ashford Castle Hotel and do not want to pay to enter the grounds of Ashford Castle can catch this same cruise at Lisloughery Pier,Cong,which is a public pier, at 3p.m,boarding at 2.45p.m.

This is a two hour cruise which includes a 40 minute visit to Inchagoill Island, the lakes most famous island. Having left Ashford Castle, the "Isle Of Inisfree" briefly visits Lisloughery quay from where passenger steamers once operated. One can join the cruise at this point too at 3:00pm.

This cruise arrives at Inchagoill at approx 3:30pm for a 40 minute visit. While on the island passengers are taken on a guided tour of St. Patrick's 5th Century Monastic site. Historic points of interest include:

  • The stone of Lugna (470AD: Gravestone of St. Patricks navigator)

History Cruise

Book Now Each and every morning we offer a history cruise to guests at Ashford Castle and day visitors are also welcome. Come and join local historian and boat captain Patrick Luskin as he takes you on a facinating journey through time. Patrick has a vast knowledge of this area and indeed in 2003 published his first local history book entitled "A Voyage Of Discovery". Personally sighned copies can be obtained on board or in the gift shop at Ashford Castle.

During the cruise one will experience some breath-taking scenery on Lough Corrib, with it's 365 islands and surrounding Connemara mountains. You will also have a great oppurtunity to photograph Ashford Castle from the water.
